There was a dedication and a celebration at the garden for Monroe County Day School. Founder Rita Dickinson was handed the signed agreement from St. Stephen United Methodist Church for MCDS to use the property next to the parsonage for a garden for the students. St. Stephen UMC Pastor Rupert Evans then said a prayer to bless the ground that will be used to help educate the children. This agreement is still in place and they continue to have a strong partnership.

Monroe Walton Center for the Arts

Monroe Walton Center for the Arts, Monroe Museum and Monroe Country Day School combined efforts to tackle the lack of respect for the history of the Mill and its families. The High Cotton Project, was an effort to emphasize integrating local history into art projects that attracts a non-tapped population of artists. Local artists taught classes that connected to local history. All three partners committed to use their buildings, staff and volunteers for classes and displays of local work.
