School Updates:
- As the weather begins to warm up, please remember to remain mindful of the dress code. Shorts are permitted, but they must be longer than fingertip length and provide appropriate coverage. Tank tops and clothing that may be considered distracting are not allowed. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Our Track team had a very productive meet today in Carnesville Georgia trying out new events. Here's a brief recap...
Shot Put / Discus:
One of our 8th graders had another solid performance in the boys shot put, throwing 36'6 for second in his age group. Noah Pete (28'0) also competed finishing 5th in his age group and setting a new personal best. In the Discus, Noah threw 68'5 finishing 4th in his age group and improving his own school record.
Boys 100m:
In the 100 Noah Pete ran 17.48 placing 15th.
Boys 200:
One of our 8th grade boys ran 27.90 in the 200 for his first attempt at the distance. Finishing in 6th place.
Boys 400:
Five MCDS athletes competed in the 400 this weekend, all making their first attempt at the distance. The group was led by Thomas Webster (1:02.62) who finished 9th in the meet and narrowly missed winning his heat. He was followed by one of our 8th graders (1:06.60), Ethan Kriesberg (1:09.22), Brylee Rodriguez (1:20.61) and Carson Rodriguez (1:20.70) who finished 9th, 13th, 15th and 16th respectively.
Boys 800:
Doubling back in the 800 Thomas (2:42) Ethan (2:57) Brylee (3:13) and Carson (3:20) placed 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.
Girls 800:
Aubrey Farmer made her season debut in the 800 running 3:32 and finishing 3rd.
- The ESports team won a thriller yesterday against #55 Fuquay-Varina High School 6 - 5! The team was down a set early but rallied back with wins by Austin Myers in the 4th and Brant Carter in the 5th to take home the win. Brant, our team captain, won two consecutive elimination games to take the 5th set tiebreaker. The Eagles are now ranked 47th going into the final week of the regular season, where we will be looking to secure our spot in the 64 team playoff!
